Berlin and Ottawa are discussing building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Canada’s east coast so that the country can start exporting fuel to Europe, Reuters reports citing a German government official.
He told the publication that in May, Canadian Minister of Natural Resources Jonathan Wilkinson said the country’s authorities were in dialogue with the companies behind two proposed LNG export facilities on the east coast about how to help them accelerate the pace of these projects and scale up. LNG supplied to Europe.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, advised Europe to prepare to reduce gas consumption by almost a third by mid-February, as supplies from Russia may stop.
